A natural affinity towards accounting and finance, alongside an authentic human approach towards building relationships and appreciating the in-demand skills businesses need to succeed, describes Kevin Kaye professionally and personally. Right after graduating from the University of Iowa, Kevin joined Bidwell & Company as a staff accountant. Embracing his strengths in relating to others through genuine conversation and communication, growing a network, and problem solving, Kevin identified a natural fit to apply these technical and soft skills to benefit the accounting and finance community. He then joined one of the world’s largest staffing and recruitment firms, Robert Half International. Over the course of eight years Kevin developed and grew the company’s presence in Vancouver, Chicago, and Portland, quickly becoming a key contributor in successfully training and mentoring high-performance teams.
After experiencing success in the recruiting industry, Kevin joined a start-up business consulting firm, Percipio Consulting Group, where he led their business development and recruiting efforts. During his tenure with Percipio, the firm was recognized on the Portland Business Journal’s annual list of Oregon’s 100 Fastest Growing Private Companies for four consecutive years.
After many successful years in consulting, Kevin decided to explore his curiosity and interest in international travel and spent a three-year journey covering Central America, Europe, Scandinavia, North Africa, and Australia. Returning to Chicago in 2010, he joined a former colleague in launching Marco & Associates, a Chicago-based recruiting and staffing firm. In 2018 Kevin traveled overseas for nine months, getting immersed in the cultures of Finland, Norway, Russia, Italy, Spain, and Estonia. Upon arriving back in the states in 2019, energized with new ideas and inspired to make further contributions to the finance and accounting community, Kevin launched Katalyst Group.
Connecting with individuals whether it be a brief or in-depth conversation en route from one international city to the next, is what drives Kevin to be in the people-oriented business of executive search and recruiting. Meeting, listening, and talking to individuals across the world is woven into what started Katalyst Group and where it is today—it’s that sense of curiosity, exploration and turning a vision into action that are the hallmarks of Kevin’s entrepreneurial approach to business, the community, and interpersonal development.
Kevin’s unique blend of technical accounting, recruiting, consulting and leadership experience allow him to provide a breadth of solutions tailored to fit the talent acquisition and consulting needs of Fortune 100, public, and privately held organizations.
Kevin has been an active sponsor of Financial Executives International, Portland and Chicago Chapters (FEI), and has served on the boards of the Portland Chapters of the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA), and Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA). Kevin and Katalyst Group have also been active sponsors and supporters of several mission-driven and professional organizations, including Orion3, Start Early, Mercy Home for Boys and Girls, and Ladies of Virtue.
Kevin is a graduate of the University of Iowa with a degree in Finance, emphasis in Accounting.
